Hey, I’m Chelsie.
I am passionate about incorporating dance, movement, and mindfulness to your healing journey.
My Approach
Collaborative
I believe in the power of collaboration to bring your best self forward. I am a registered dance/movement therapist and professional counselor associate. My approach blends mindfulness, expressive arts, and body awareness to your holistic psychotherapeutic healing journey. My hope is that you feel supported, safe, and curious while we work together.
I work with individuals experiencing loss of hope, parenting stress, chronic illness, traumatic experiences, and those navigating transitions, and generational patterns, as well as seeking to become the most authentic version of themselves.
Expressive Arts
Dance, drama, music, poetry, art are all effective ways we can incorporate creative expression into our everyday life.
Methods
Dance/Movement Therapy
WHAT IS DANCE/MOVEMENT THERAPY? The psychotherapeutic use of dance, movement, body awareness, and embodied communication to foster healing and well-being for all individuals, families, and communities. - ADTA.org
Mindfulness, Breath, Yoga
As a certified yoga instructor I love to incorporate asana (yoga poses) and pranayama (breath) to our work together. I currently guide yoga at a studio in Salem, Oregon. I am also happy to offer yoga to your event or special gathering.
My Background & Experience
I have been a dancer my whole life. This certainly catapulted my interest in dance and movement as a healing modality yet I never could have imagined how important and accessible this modality could be to those experiencing mental health challenges. I received my Bachelors of Science in Dance with a minor in Biology at Western Oregon University. My senior project was researching and presenting the effectiveness of Dance in Prison to reduce recidivism and increase well-being and positive outcomes. Directly after graduating, I enrolled in the three year Masters program at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I studied Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Dance/Movement Therapy under their Expressive Arts Therapy Program. My capstone thesis was centered around the use of Dance/Movement Therapy to reduce burnout in health professionals and was published. During my two internships, I worked as a therapy intern at Catholic Community Services for over a year where I served individuals of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. I also volunteered my time to provide movement groups and yoga to the families at Church at the Park in Salem, Oregon. I interned and worked at Options Counseling and Family Services. I then went on to work for Trillium Family Services as a Child and Family Therapist at several K-12 schools, gaining invaluable knowledge on family and social systems. I currently have a small private practice in Silverton, Oregon and continue to seek out opportunities to learn and engage in the arts, mental health education, workshops, continuing education, supervision, etc.

I recommend at least 2 sessions per month to build a healthy rapport and feel traction. Therapy can last from 6 mos. up to years. It really depends on your goals and the material you are working through. Some clients only desire to work through a specific situation while others may continue to peel back the onion and find a life long journey. I will help you to create clear and achievable goals that fit your lifestyle no matter the length of our time together.
